Ranco
North America produces a family of electrically operated flow control
valves which are designed to replace traditional orifice tube and
expansion valve components while offering enhanced system efficiency
and operation as well as passenger comfort.
APPLICATIONS
- Use as the flow control device in automotive HVAC systems.
Ranco flow control devices incorporate multiple selectable flow
orifices and take the place of orifice tubes or mechanical expansion
valves. They are controlled by the vehicle's ECM or other electronic
control.
- Shut-off valve with (OSOT) and without (VS8H) orifice used with
rear air conditioning systems in mini-vans and sport utility vehicles
to stop oil migration and compressor slugging. Control is maintained
via the vehicle's ECM or other electronic control.
|
| SPECIAL
FEATURES |
|
- Tighter control of superheat for improved system efficiency
and greater passenger comfort. The ECM or other electronic control
determines the correct refrigerant flow for the flow control to
select, based on changes in either load or engine speed.
- Pressure spikes associated with scroll compressors can be dampened,
eliminating nuisance shut downs.
|
- Valve materials are compatible with all new and existing automotive
refrigerants and lubricants.
- Cost effective solution, offering a lower total installed cost
than traditional approaches to capacity control.
- A wide range of flow rates and orifice sizes can be accommodated.

VS8H
Solenoid Shut-off Valve
This
is a right angle refrigerant solenoid shut-off valve, used primarily
in rear air conditioning applications on mini-vans and sport utility
vehicles. The VS8H offers a compact size, right angle flow pattern,
and standard thread sizes that make it an easy drop-in replacement
for existing right angle thermal expansion valves.

OSOT
Solenoid Shut-off Valve
with Orifice
The
OSOT flow control valve incorporates a solenoid shut off valve
that can be thermostatically controlled to provide rear-cooling
control at a very reasonable total cost. It incorporates a fixed
orifice which is available in a number of different sizes to accommodate
different applications. The control is designed to fail in the
closed mode so that the front air conditioning system is always
functional

EDSOT
Multiple Orifice Flow Control
The
EDSOT flow control is electrically controlled by the vehicle's ECM
or other electronic control. Based on engine speed and load, the
flow control is directed to select the appropriate orifice size
to maintain tight control of system superheat. As a result, both
system efficiency and passenger comfort can be enhanced over a wide
range of operating conditions.
A wide
variety of orifice sizes, fittings, terminations, and other optional
constructions are available.
