New Robertshaw® Thermostat Controls Humidification and Dehumidification
New Products Have Award-Winning I-Series Features
Carol Stream, Illinois, USA - August 20, 2004 - Invensys Climate Controls today introduced a
new series of Robertshaw® programmable thermostats that combines humidification and dehumidification control into one unit that is easy to program and install.
The three new models in the 9850i series have all the award-winning features of the
original i-Series plus the convenience of integrated humidification and
dehumidification control. These
thermostats adjust indoor humidity levels automatically when coupled to an
optional outdoor sensor.
“There are many places where homeowners are challenged with high humidity in the
summer and extreme dryness in the winter. Now we’ve created an optimal solution to help consumers maintain comfort
year-round and enjoy energy savings too,” says Tim Butler, Invensys Climate
Controls Product Manager for Thermostats. “Contractors also win from time and
effort saved by installing a single unit that does the work of two.”
Invensys found in its focus group research that 80 percent of contractors desire
humidity sensing and control in a deluxe programmable thermostat. As a result, it introduced the 9800i series
with singular humidity control earlier in the year and now has added the 9850i
series enhanced with both humidification and dehumidification control.
“Having both series of products available allows us to satisfy all climate needs,” says Butler.
New Features
New features on the 9850i series models include a calibration feature to
allow homeowners to fine tune the temperature in their environment as well as
provide greater overall temperature accuracy.
Thermostats in the series are compatible with the Robertshaw 9025i
remote outdoor sensors and 9020i remote indoor sensors. New thermostat models
include the 9851i, 9865i and 9870i, which are all compatible with most standard 24 Volt AC
heat pump systems, up to two-stage heat and two-stage cool.
Energy Savings Benefits
Features that provide energy savings for homeowners include:
Energy Efficient Recovery (EER™) – Provides
gradual recovery from setback temperatures to minimize use of auxiliary
systems.
Programmable and intermittent fans – The programmable fan
allows the user to set the fan and provide continuous circulation. The
intermittent fan provides minimum hourly fan circulation.
Industry Award Winner
The 9850i series is built on the same dot matrix technology platform that is used
in all Robertshaw i-Series deluxe programmable thermostats and is responsible
for the award-winning ease of programming and bilingual – English or Spanish –
display flexibility.
These thermostats feature menu-driven programming modeled on the interfaces for cell
phones and automated teller machines (ATM) that are familiar to consumers.
Industry
analysts Frost & Sullivan recognized the i-Series with its 2003 Product
Innovation Award in the thermostat market segment. Thermostats in the i-Series have
the Energy Star® designation from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Contractor Identification
Contractors benefit from the integrated contractor
identification feature, available on all i-Series models. By simply entering their name and phone
number into a special menu, HVAC contractors can stay top-of-mind with building
operators when the need arises to maintain or service their HVAC system.
