Robertshaw® Adds Humidity Sensing To Programmable Thermostats
Carol Stream, Illinois, USA - January 29,
2004 - Invensys Climate Controls today
introduced a new line of Robertshaw® programmable thermostats that adds humidity sensing and control to the other popular features in its
award-winning i-Series family of thermostats that has earned the Energy Star®.
The
new Robertshaw 9800i series has three programmable thermostat models that adjust indoor humidity levels manually
or, when coupled to an optional outdoor
sensor, automatically. The new units help contractors save installation time by
eliminating the need for a separate wall- or furnace-mounted humidistat.
“Our research found that over 80% of HVAC
contractors wanted humidity sensing in deluxe thermostat models,” says Tim
Butler, Product Manager for Thermostats, Invensys Climate Controls Americas.
“We listened to that.”
Industry Award Winner
The
9800i series is built on the same dot matrix technology platform that is used
in all Robertshaw i-Series deluxe programmable thermostats and is responsible
for the award-winning ease of programming and
bilingual – English or Spanish – display flexibility. These thermostats feature
menu-driven programming modeled on the interfaces for cell phones and automated
teller machines (ATM) that are familiar to consumers. The i-Series has been
recognized by industry analysts Frost & Sullivan with its 2003 Product
Innovation Award in the thermostat market segment.
“The 9800i series creates another opportunity
for contractors to up-sell their customers,” Butler says. “And homeowners save
in the long run because using the programmables helps homeowners conserve
energy and save money.”
Contractors
will also benefit from the integrated
contractor identification feature, available on all i-Series models. By simply entering their name and phone number into a
special menu, the contractors will stay top-of-mind with homeowners when the
need arises to maintain or service their HVAC system.
Thermostats
in the 9800i line are compatible with the 9025i remote outdoor and 9020i remote
indoor sensors for greater control of indoor comfort and system efficiency.
The 9800i series includes:
- Model
9801i – Compatible with all single-stage 24 VAC heating and cooling systems,
including single-stage heat pump systems
- Model 9815i – Compatible
with all standard 24 VAC heating and cooling systems, up to two-stage heat and
two-stage cool
- Model
9820i – Compatible with all standard 24 VAC heat pump systems, up to two-stage
heat and two-stage cool
