If
you have lighting applications that must turn ON at dusk and
OFF at dawn, our time controls with AstroDial SunTracker™
are perfect for you. This feature ensures that your
applications illuminate at just the right time, and you don’t
pay for lighting you don’t need. An additional ON/OFF event
can be scheduled to deactivate lights during off-hours.
AstroDial SunTracker™ is just what you need for outdoor
lighting applications.
This feature helps you overcome the challenges nature brings.
Because sunrise and sunset times vary 365 days a year, ON/OFF
settings for outdoor lighting require frequent adjustment.
Timers with AstroDial SunTracker™ automatically self-adjust
to changing light and dark cycles. |
More
than 30 years ago, Paragon invented the AstroDial feature and
incorporated it into several of our electromechanical time
controls. An elliptical cam gear activated ON/OFF trippers
that transferred lighting loads at different times each day of
the year. Within minutes, timers with AstroDial adjusted to
the rise and fall of the sun. Ten years later, Paragon took
this technology one step further and applied it to electronic
time controls.
Our SunTracker™ feature is an improvement to AstroDial.
While AstroDial couldn’t differentiate between latitudes,
SunTracker™ can. Ambient light varies at every degree of
latitude because each is at a different angle to the sun.
Using algorithms, SunTracker™ can calculate sunrise and
sunset for every latitude, each day of the year, anywhere in
the world.

Paragon
was the first company to develop these intelligent features,
and AstroDial SunTracker™ continues to be popular today.
Timers with AstroDial SunTracker™ are often used to control
security, street, and parking lot lights. They help illuminate
public and commercial walkways and showrooms as well.
Billboards and signs are common applications as are tennis
courts, parks, and recreational facilities. You’ll find
Paragon time controls with this feature in our Quad Controls
section on pages 4-6 and AstroDial SunTracker™ section on
pages 26-27. Be sure to check out these products if your
lighting application needs to correspond with light and dark
cycles. |
